MUST WE ALWAYS COPY

Nigeria since her Amalgamation in 1914 and independence in 1960 have always waited in the wings for others to act and we copy. This act has now been entrenched in our national lives and has gradually crept into our religious circle. The kind of political and religious leadership we have over the years have further exacerbated this malicious trend and if left unabated, will continue to give us negative image in the international community.

The reason why our case is always different is the fact that people who we entrust the affairs of this country are over dependent and xenocentric ( seeing people way of doing things superior to yours) even on religion issues. Islam is not a religion of Saudi Arabia but that's of the entire world the same Islam they are practicing is the same we are practicing with out any exceptions. I don't think they perform any upgraded version of five daily prayer over there, it same thing we are practicing and we both use the same Quran. We have our own Islamic scholars who have vast knowledge of the holy Quran and Hadith who should guide us and make decisions for us. We don't have to rely on or take decision of people in another geographical Location and different time zone.

The issue of moon sighting in Islam is very clear and doesn't require vast knowledge for us to understand, the moon was sighted in many parts of the country (Nigeria) but still, our religious leaders, declared Sunday 24th May as Eid il Fitr, just because Saudi Arabia made the same decision....this is malicious and devoid of logic.
